Model Transition Program
"Bridging the Gap"
In the Fall of 2006, OCM BOCES partnered with the Westhill and the Marcellus School District to assess their current transition procedures. During this time, programs were evaluated that prepare student with disabilities for the workplace and post-secondary education.
Wanting to make a more concerted effort and impact in the area of transition services they investigated the Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID). They discovered VESID’s Model Transition Program (MTP) and the opportunities for real advancement.

In the Spring of 2007, OCM BOCES, Westhill and Marcellus School Districts applied for this grant. In the summer of 2007, they were notified that they had secured a 3.5 year MTP grant. The transition team was hired and began to implement the grant in October of 2007.
